Brief History

Built in the early 20th century, 2 Leeming Street shares architectural similarities with its neighbours, 4-6, 8 and 10 Leeming Street, which would suggest the same architect was involved in its creation.

The Blooming Wonderful florist is one of the longest-standing businesses of Leeming Street and has been on the site for over 30 years.

We’ve been told that it was a Klick Photopoint shop in the 1980s, but have found no proof of this yet. Do you remember getting your holiday snaps developed there?

Before that, the shop was a tobacconist called Preedy’s, which had a chain across the Midlands. Preedy’s replaced another tobacconist named Jolly (see photo).

Condition

The building is in good condition and is brick with ornamental belt courses — also called string courses — and window dressings. It features a double-fascia shopfront with an awning which may be the original configuration.

Suggested Works

The upper floor windows need some redecoration.
