Brief History
8 Market Place was built in the early 19th century and is Grade II listed.
Current Condition
The three-storey building is painted coursed square ashlar stone with a sash window on the first and second floor. It is an attractive building in reasonable condition and the new tenant has tried to make the best of the 20th-century aluminium shopfront, recently refinishing it in gold paint. The internal ceiling has been lowered.
Suggested Works
Explore history of earlier shop front but if no evidence is found, reinstate a late 19th-century shop front to match the age of the building. Remove paint from stonework.
