3 Stockwell Gate – Merkur Cashino

The first vertical sash windows only had a lower sliding pane, but in the 1700s the hidden counter-weight mechanism was invented, allowing both panes to open.

Brief History

3 Stockwell Gate is a stone, three-bay 19th-century building.

Current Condition

The sash windows on the upper floors have stone surrounds that have been painted. The upper floors are vacant with window film on the sash windows. A leaking gutter has caused staining to the front elevation and damage to the hanging sign.

Suggested Works

New cast iron gutter and downpipe. Overhaul and decorate all six sash windows.
