Building Pride in Mansfield

The project is part of a wider vision by Mansfield District Council to improve the appearance and vibrancy of the town centre and to put Mansfield back on the map as a great place to live, work, invest and visit, aligning with council priorities for Place, Growth and Aspiration and Wellbeing.

Helping Businesses Thrive

Before the coronavirus struck, the council was providing business start-up, growth and shopfront improvement grants to help fill empty shops and encourage more independent retailers to the town and working with BID partners to provide support for established businesses to grow. The impact of Covid-19 on the town centre economy has made this kind of assistance even more important.

Reviving our High Street

The long-term aim is to help Mansfield meet the challenges of the changing face of the high street – something that is happening across Britain – by encouraging more independent retailers and making the town centre as much a place for socialising, entertainment and living in, as it is a place for shopping.

Funding Repairs and Refurbishment

Property owners in the conservation area can apply for match-funded grants of up to 75% to help with the cost of making improvements that are in sympathy with their building’s heritage.
