17 Leeming Street — Harmony Health Clinic
Part of the original Georgian stone buildings on Leeming Street
Brief History
17-21 Leeming Street once formed part of a series of stone buildings which were demolished and replaced with the brick building where The Green Dragon pub now stands, making 17-21 Leeming Street the only part of this original stone structure remaining.
It is one of the oldest buildings on Leeming Street from the late Georgian period and originally, like many buildings of this time, did not have a shopfront but was a plain window-and-door façade.
The Harmony Health Clinic specialises in Chinese medicine and has been on the site since 2012.
Condition
The building is of coursed stone with sash windows in stone surrounds and the upper floor windows are in need of redecoration and some repair.
Suggested Works
Explore the evidence for the original shopfront and reinstate if possible and clean the stonework. Overhaul the windows and reinstate Welsh-slate roof and reinstate the iron downpipe.
